Pedro Jesús Gómez - early plucked string
Born in Albacete, he has earned the following qualifications and worked with the following masters: Doctor of Music from the UAX (G. Arriaga), Master's Degree in Musicology from the UCM (Suárez-Pajares), Master's Degree in Guitar Performance (M. Barrueco), Advanced Guitar Professor (José Tomás), Advanced Degree in Early Plucked Strings (JM Moreno and JC de Mulder). He has also been taught by, among others, L. Brouwer, D. Russell, JL Rodrigo, Pepe Romero, Carles Trepat, Jordi Savall, Hopkinson Smith and John Griffiths. He won the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Prize.
Civil servant professor of guitar at the RCSM (Royal Spanish Music School) in Madrid. He taught guitar, tablature, and basso continuo at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla la Mancha. He has toured solo, in groups, and with orchestras, given masterclasses, lectures, and has taught courses in 10 countries in Europe, North, and South America, even playing for HRH Queen Sofía of Spain. He has published 11 CDs, as well as books and articles for Arsis, Six per Vuit, Vanitas, QTV Classics, IEA, and SGR. He is a Mediaset artist, having performed on radio and television in Europe and the Americas. He is a jury member for the international competitions such as the Madrid International Festival, Cincilia, Ciutat d'Elx, José Tomás, Molina de Segura, and Julián Arcas in Almería, among others.
He has performed premieres and first recordings of composers such as Salvador Brotons, Enrique Igoa, Hernán Navarro, Roxana Paredes and David Cuevas.
He has released 11 CDs, pioneering the publication of multimedia CDs with audio, including scores and musicological studies, as well as a pioneer in the publication of live CDs with Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and contemporary repertoire (Live in Berlin, QTV, 2014). He has also published books and articles on musical research for the IEA, Hispanica Lyra, Revista de la SGR, and the CSMCLM's musical research journal, Consonancias y Nombres propios de la guitarra del Festival de Córdoba.
He has given presentations, conferences, courses and masterclasses at the Festivals: “José Tomás – Villa de Petrer” Petrer International Guitar Festival, “Ciutat d'Elx” International Guitar Festival, Cartagena Guitar Week, “Valle de Alcudia” Guitar Festival, Córdoba International Guitar Festival, Valencia International Guitar Conference, University of Castilla la Mancha, GB Martini Conservatory of Bologna, Festival “Guitares du monde” Perpignan, “Festival do violão” de Osasco (Brazil), Universidade de São Paulo and Fundação das Artes (Brazil), Universidade do Minho (Portugal) and Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina).
