Vicente Fernández - oboe

A Madrid-born oboist, he studied with his professor, Angel Beriaín, at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he graduated with the Honor Award for his studies and the Honor Award in Chamber Music with Luis Rego.

He expanded his oboe studies with Emanuel Abbühl and participated in various international courses with Miguel Quirós, Francisco Salanova, Ingo Goritzki, John Anderson, Eduardo Martínez, Diethelm Jonas, and Stefan Schilli. He also took baroque oboe courses with Paolo Grazzi.

He has collaborated with various orchestras such as the ONE, OSCyL, OSM, and RTVE. He was a founding member of the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM) in 1987, where he was principal oboe until 2018. He has performed as a soloist with the orchestra on several occasions and recorded some twenty albums for Naxos, Virgin, Verso, Emi, and Deutsche Grammophon, in addition to recordings with various chamber music ensembles for Radio Clásica. She has performed with a multitude of conductors, including José Ramón Encinar, Jesús López Cobos, Frübeck de Burgos, Krysztof Penderecki, Libor Pešek, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Lorin Maazel, Alberto Zedda, Rudolf Barshai, Juan José Mena, Gómez Martínez, Pablo González and Christoph König, in the most important national and international venues such as the Arsenal de Metz, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Teatro de Bellas Artes in Mexico, the Théatre du Châtelet in Paris, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Siglo XXI Auditorium in Beijing, the Shanghai and Hong Kong Auditoriums, the Lingotto in Turin, the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Casa da Música in Porto.

He holds a Master's and Doctorate degree cum laude from the Alfonso X el Sabio University of Madrid, having published several unpublished music for oboe and piano from the 19th century.

He has an extensive teaching career: since 1992, he has taught oboe at various schools and conservatories in the Community of Madrid, as well as with youth orchestras such as JORCAM and JONDE. He is currently Professor of Oboe at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (RCSMM), where he has taught oboe, English horn, and orchestral repertoire since 2006. This activity he combines with regular collaborations with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, and the Madrid Symphony Orchestra.
