Sergey Teslya - violin
Born in Novosibirsk (USSR) to a family of engineers, Sergey began studying the violin at the age of four, and from 1967 to 1980 he studied with Galina Turchaninova. In 1977, Sergey earned a diploma at the All-Russian Violin Competition in Kazan, and in 1979, he won first prize at the Wieniawsky Young Violinists Competition in Lublin, Poland. Between 1980 and 1982, he studied in kyiv, Ukraine, with Olga Parkhomenko. Between 1982 and 1986, he completed his studies at the Gnesin Conservatory in Moscow with Vladimir Spivakov and Valentin Berlinski.
In 1986, he joined the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra. That same year, he won First Prize at the International Competition of the Académie d'Arts Musicale de Tours, France. He worked with Moscow Virtuosi until December 1993, performing on tours throughout Asia, North America, South America, and Europe. In 1990, Sergey moved to Spain with the orchestra, invited by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain. From January 1994 to 2002, he served as concertmaster of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. In 1998, he founded the Chamber Orchestra of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. From 2002 to 2012, Sergey served as concertmaster of the Spanish National Orchestra.
He has performed as solo horn with orchestras such as the Moscow Virtuosi horn, the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla La Mancha (Valladolid), the Symphony Orchestra of Córdoba (Andalusia), the National Orchestra of Spain, the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, the English Chamber Orchestra, among others. As solo horn he has performed works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bottesini, Berg, Szymanowski, Martinu, Harrison, Milhaud, Dutilleux, Bernstein, Schnittke and Adams with conductors such as Vjekoslav Sutej, Klaus Weise, Alain Lombard, Shuntaro Sato, Marc Soustrot, and Ilan Volkov.
He has been guest concertmaster with the Galicia Symphony Orchestra (La Coruña), the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia (Santiago de Compostela), the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Symphony Orchestra, the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra (Teatro Real), the Valencia Community Orchestra (Palau de les Arts, Valencia Opera), "New European Strings", "I Fiaminghi" and the Orchestre National d'Ile-de-France.
He has worked with conductors such as Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Jesús López Cobos, George Pehlivanian, David Shallon, S'orno Mintz, Christian Badea, Alain Lombard, Loor Bolton, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Temirkanov, Yehudi Menuhin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Bobby McFerrin, David Atherton, Philippe Herreweghe, Leonard Slatkin, Semion Bychkov, among others.
He has participated in festivals such as Colmar (France), Dar-Es-Salaam (Tanzania), "Promenade" in Oldenburg (Germany), "Tuscan Sun" in Costoso (Italy), Santander International Festival and the Spanish Music Festival of León (Spain).
He has been a guest professor with the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, the Youth Orchestra of Andalusia, the Youth Orchestra of Castilla-La Mancha, the Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, the Youth Orchestra of Spain, as well as in various advanced training courses in Spain, Colombia, and Germany.
From 2009 to 2019, Sergey was a professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. From 2010 to the present, he has been a professor at the Katarina Gurska Center for Higher Education, and since 2012, he has been an assistant professor in the Marco Rizzi Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
