Vicens Prats – transverse flute

Vicens Prats is one of the most outstanding flutists of his generation. Born in Palamós, Girona, he studied with great maestros such as Salvador Gratacòs, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion, Aurèle Nicolet, Ida Ribera, and Michel Debost at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he unanimously won First Prize in 1984. He also received the Chamber Music Prize with Christian Lardé as his teacher and has won prizes in international competitions such as the Kobe Competition and the Maria Canals Competition.

In 1987, he was appointed principal flute of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse under the direction of Michel Plasson. Since 1991, he has held the position of principal flute with the Orchestre de Paris, consolidating an international career that has seen him collaborate with the most prestigious conductors and orchestras in the world.

In addition to his orchestral career, Vicens Prats is a renowned pedagogue. He has taught at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) since its founding in 2001 and at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.

His artistic side is complemented by his love of chamber music and his constant exploration of the flute repertoire, from classics to contemporary works.
