Cristina Díaz - viola
She completed her musical studies at the Provincial Conservatory of Music in Guadalajara and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where she earned the "Extraordinary End of Degree Award" in the specialties of Viola and Chamber Music under the guidance of Emilio Mateu and Luis Rego, respectively.
Her instrumental and pedagogical training has been supported by teachers such as Julia Malkova, Mariano Pulido, Bruno Giuranna, Jose Manuel Román, Frederic Laine, Jensem Lam, Vladimir Mendelsshon, Marianne Murray Perkins, Sheila Nelson, Christophe Bossuat, Mary Cohen… and ensembles such as the Enesco Quartet of Paris, among others. She has collaborated with orchestras such as the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, the Filarmonía Orchestra, the Excelentia Orchestra, the Andrés Segovia Orchestra, the Modus Novus Group, the Villa de Madrid Orchestra, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra-Teatro Real, the Spanish National Orchestra, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra School Orchestra-Teatro Real, etc., performing as principal viola in many of them.
He has made several recordings for RTVE and RNE, performing in venues such as the National Auditorium, Monumental Theatre, Royal Theatre, Juan March Foundation etc. He has worked under the baton of maestros such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Jesús López Cobos, Walter Weller, Juanjo Mena, Josep Pons, Adrián Leaper, Antoni Ros Marbá, Cristóbal Halfter, Enrique García Asensio...among others. She has performed as a soloist in various Spanish cities and has toured countries such as Germany and Greece. In 2004, she obtained a position as Principal Viola Professor with the RTVE Orchestra (where she is currently on leave), and in 2006, she joined the Corps of Music and Performing Arts Teachers of the Community of Madrid, specializing in viola. Since 2014, she has been a viola teacher at the City of Segovia Music Course. She currently combines her chamber music and teaching work as a viola teacher and head of studies at the Federico Moreno Torroba Integrated Center for Musical Education.
